Chet Baker and Van Morrison do Send in the Clowns
October 19, 2006 by raysweat
We were both manic depressives.
But that was ok cause that’s where we found our art.
She with a chainsaw to the roof.
And me digging a hole in the cellar crawlspace.
Or maybe it was the other way around.
One was grimacing, one was smiling
in the up and down. Til once a
squirrel stopped by with a bottle
of Prozac, said look
It’s the only way the two of you
will ever meet. And besides someone’s
got to pay for the repairs. We took
his advice and though he was not
an owl, he was quite wise.
And we settled in the kitchen
just like everyone else,
making small talk and
staring off in the distance
dreaming of the time
when squirrels were flowers
and flowers were sky
and we were water
moving under the earth
and sometimes in a boom
and sometimes just a whisper
everything could talk
and we could hear.
You’re the best.
awww…thanks, robin…
